Dr. Franziska Gaupp is Director of the Food Systems Economics Commission, a collaboration between EAT, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU). Franziska leads the FSEC Secretariat and works with international experts in the fields of economics, agriculture, environment, health and nutrition to explore pathways towards a sustainable, healthy and inclusive food system.
Before joining EAT, Franziska worked as a research scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Vienna, Austria. Franziska is interested in food systems and systemic risk modelling. Additionally, she has experience in systems analysis using quantitative and qualitative methods to foster transformative change towards a resilient future.
Franziska is a guest scientist at PIK as well as the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). She is a contributing author of several UN Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Risk Assessment Reports.
Franziska holds a DPhil (PhD) from the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford. She holds an MSc in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Economics from the Freie Universität Berlin. Franziska is a German national.
